About Furniture Traders
We are Furniture Traders, a family-run furniture business based in Thirsk, and our story has always been rooted in craftsmanship, hard work, and family values.
The business began with our parents, Steve and Colette Wilson, in 2006. Before founding Furniture Traders, our dad Steve was a cabinet maker by trade and spent many years manufacturing his own pine furniture. His work was supplied to large chain furniture shops across the UK, giving him deep industry knowledge and a clear understanding of what makes well-built, long-lasting furniture. Alongside Colette, he built the foundations of what would become Furniture Traders, focusing on quality, honesty, and doing things properly.
Josh and Jake never originally envisioned themselves going into the family business. In fact, it wasn’t part of the plan at all. But things changed when our dad was asked to manage the Grantley Hall project. At that point, Josh stepped in to support him with the retail side of the business, helping to keep everything running smoothly in the showroom.
A few years later, Jake also joined the business, and from there Furniture Traders naturally grew into what it is today — a true family operation in every sense. We now run the business together, combining decades of experience with a fresh, modern approach to retail, while still holding firmly onto the values our parents built it on.
We are a family business through and through, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Every product we choose, every customer we speak to, and every decision we make is driven by the same principle: offering high-quality furniture we would be proud to have in our own homes.
Today, Furniture Traders has grown into one of the trusted furniture stores in Yorkshire, offering a wide range of sofas, beds, dining furniture, and home essentials from our furniture shop in Thirsk, serving customers across North Yorkshire and beyond.
We also specialise in hospitality and trade furniture, having successfully managed the full furnishing of the Grantley Hall project, as well as carrying out refurbishments for a number of local B&Bs, pubs, and hospitality venues across North Yorkshire.
